5 BEAUTY HACKS TO TRY WHILE SOCIAL DISTANCING


While COVID-19 has effected so many areas of our daily lives - there is one area that social distancing has made it possible for us to explore and spend more time in... OUR SELF CARE. Self-care is any activity that we do deliberately in order to take care of our mental, emotional, and physical health. Although it's a simple concept in theory, it's something we often overlook. Good self-care is key to improved mood and reduced anxiety.


Use this newly found time at home for self reflection, meditation, building new habits, and to jump start that routine you've been talking about forever! If you're anything like me - you love makeup, skincare and all things beautiful - during my time at home I've been implementing a few steps that have not only kept me positive but, has made me feel glamorous in the process. Here are 6 beauty hacks to try at home while practicing social distancing:


1) Pop your favorite eye cream in the fridge.



Whatever your favorite eye cream is - pop it in the fridge. Eye creams are formulated specifically for the delicate skin around the eye. ... Squinting and constant movement of the eyes also hastens the appearance of lines and wrinkles ( this is especially true for you ladies who are working from home and behind your computer during most of the day), and fluids collect under the eyes and causes puffiness and dark circles. Eye creams can address some of these issues. Chilled eye creams will have a nice sensory feel and cooling effect that is perfect for tired, puffy eyes and can also reduce the look of dark circles. Not to mention - a cool sensation under the eye just wakes you up in the morning when you need that extra boost to get motivated for the day.


2) Wear concealer and mascara for your video calls.


Now let's be real ladies... who wants to wear a full face of makeup while at home? Now don't get me wrong - a full beat here and there isn't bad - but I truly feel that social distancing has not only given us time to let our body, mind and soul breathe, but also our skin. Are you working at home and have tons of video calls with your team? Or maybe you and the girls are getting together for a virtual girls night..whatever the case may be, applying concealer and mascara can be that nice pick me up that allows you to look more awake, without being caked and baked. Simply dab your favorite concealer under your eye and lightly spread it with a brush, sponges, or your fingers (set with a light powder if needed), then for the final step, apply your mascara for a more volumized and naturally finished look. Now you're ready for the virtual day that awaits you while looking super refreshed!

Set a time for bed (really you should create a daily routine for yourself to hold yourself accountable for getting ish done... but back to my blurb on sleep). our hormones are all over the place? Get a full nights rest. Are you stressed? Is anxiety taking over your life? Get a full nights rest. Now, I am not saying that 8 hours of sleep is the cure to all things... but it surely is the beginning to you setting up yourself and your days for success.



5) Make a homemade herbal steamer for brighter skin and immune health.


The inhalation of herbal is the perfect remedy for asthma, infections, bronchitis, and headaches. The steam from boiling water is often effective enough to fight congestion, but adding herbs to the water can bring a multitude of benefit. Not only can a herbal steamer do wonders for your immune health, it can also benefit your skin health.
